It's the first time that Rebecca Taylor has had a formal runway show that I can remember (or that I've been invited to). I was especially excited because I've been wearing Rebecca Taylor's label for almost ten years. That's a long time! Is my rose-colored lace dress from 1999 considered vintage? Maybe not yet.
For spring 2008, the silhouettes were almost body-hugging. There were lots of scrunched fabric belts and exposed zippers in contrasting colors. There were slip dresses, which are emerging as a spring trend. She also lowered hemlines and showed lots of skirts, maybe even more skirts than dresses. One of Taylor's signatures is her use of ornamentation and texture, which this season was scaled back to sequins and zippers.
There weren't many prints other than abstract peony. For color, she worked in cream (of course!), rose, cobalt, a deep midnight navy, and my favorite new color of the season, strawberry. All
of the models had berry-colored lips.
